Nintendo Switch Is an Instant Classic

I don't think I will ever forget the moment that the concept of the switch really hit me.  I had played it in both dock and handheld mode before.  I knew what it could do technically but the inspiration that pushed this hardware never really struck me within the first day or two that I had the system for my own.  That all changed one night whenever I had to take my girlfriend to her car outside.  I was in the middle of a shrine and even worse, the middle of a train of thought so I told her that I would follow her into the other room but, honestly, i was not very happy at the thought of leaving breath of the wild behind.  All of a sudden it clicked.  I didn't want to leave that games behind and I didn't have to.  I popped it out of the dock and the game immediately jumped to the handheld screen without the slightest hint of performance issues.  It just worked.  I walked into the other room, put on my shoes, went outside and then back in.  I then continued to sit down on the porcelain throne and relieve myself, all without unglueing my eyes from that surprisingly crisp 720p handheld screen.

All of this being said, I have fully committed myself to collecting switch games, trying different kinds of genres and limiting myself to only switch releases.  As primarily a PC gamer before this, the extreme amount of choices that I had to choose from was mind boggling large.  Everything looked fun and there was nothing that I couldn't play really so I never tried anything new.  The switch is forcing me to appreciate indie games in a way that I never did before.  So hats off to Nintendo and hats off to you for reading this.

Make sure that you keep up to date with me on twitter.  @JoeG_LTE
